Blue Sky July: Nia Wyn
June 26, 2009This memoir was lent to me by a fellow bookclub member and I’m already hooked having only read the first few pages. Written in journal form, Nia Wyn tells us about her child Joe who suffered severe brain injury resulting in cerebral palsy. It charts her attempts to reconstruct their lives and find alternative ways to heal her son. Whilst styled as a journal there are strong elements of poetry to both the words and their layout. Without wishing to sound jaded its been awhile since I have been so surprised and captured by a book. Its written in such an honest and beautiful style that, despite its heartbreaking content, I cannot wait to go back and carry on reading it.

Perfect!
